Zero Data Egress
MooduTools generates its text output with a lightweight in-browser LLM (WebLLM) that executes locally on your device's graphics processor (GPU) through the WebGPU standard. On your first visit, the browser downloads the small model weights once and stores them locally in your browser's Cache API; on later visits nothing is re-downloaded. When you type or paste text, your prompt travels from the page straight to the model running on your own machine — it does not cross the network, reach our servers, or touch any third party. Text processing is deliberately confined to your hardware: no packet, no server log, no external callback. Your words are never transmitted; the only network request is the one-time fetch of the public, reusable model weights from a CDN (esm.run).
This policy describes how we operate even where standard web technologies (cookies or third-party tools) may be present, and the rights you have under data-protection law.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not store, transmit, or otherwise process:
- Your text, mood notes, or prompts
- Generated text, summaries, or rewritten drafts
- Your name, email, or any account details (none are required)
- Any content you produce with the tool
Because the service requires no account and performs all reasoning locally, there is no personal profile, no usage history tied to you, and no backend datastore holding your creations.
Advertising & Third-Party Vendors
To keep MooduTools free, our pages may display advertisements served by third-party advertising networks, such as Google AdSense. These networks may use cookies and other device-identification technologies to measure ad performance and to serve relevant ads across the web, in accordance with their own privacy policies. This activity relates to your browser's general advertising profile — it is unrelated to your text or the output you generate, which never leave your device.
You can learn more about how Google uses data when you use its partners' sites, and opt out of personalized advertising, at Google's Data Usage & Ads and adssettings.google.com.
Cookies
We do not set or use cookies to track your creations. Any cookies on the site are limited to those set by the advertising and analytics partners described above, for standardized purposes such as frequency capping and campaign measurement. You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser settings; doing so will not affect the core on-device text tools.
For European visitors, we treat advertising preferences in line with the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR requirements, including transparency, purpose limitation, and, where required, mechanisms to give or withhold consent through your browser or the ad network's controls.
Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have rights over your personal data. Because we do not collect your moods or creations, most of these rights are, by design, already maximally honored. Where third-party ad networks handle identifiers, you may still exercise these rights with respect to them:
- Access & Portability — request a copy of data a data controller holds about you.
- Deletion — request erasure of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Rectification — correct inaccurate personal data.
- Restriction & Objection — restrict processing or object to processing for advertising.
- Opt-out of "sales"/sharing — under the CCPA, ask that your personal information not be sold or shared. We do not sell personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, or to learn which of our advertising partners process identifiers, contact us at support@moodutools.com. We will respond within the legally required timeframe and never penalize you for exercising your rights.
Data Security
Because your text and output never leave your device, the strongest guarantee we can offer is simple: there is no stored data to be exposed. The model weights cached in your browser's Cache API, along with any locally cached pages or settings, can be cleared at any time through your browser's privacy or cache controls; doing so only triggers a one-time re-download on the next use. Where third-party ad networks operate, we rely on their contractual and technical obligations, and we minimize our own processing accordingly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
